The Library

Here we go! Our first mult-panel page! I know, I’m using a lot of exclamation marks! But I’m excited to finally start telling our story. Who knows? I might re-think this whole strategy of opening the book with so many full-page, people-free images. I think it’s leftover from my training as a filmmaker. Perhaps I’ll add a narration when all is said and done. That’s the best part of making a comic book: I don’t have to decide now and I can change my mind right up to the last minute.

I originally made a mock-up of this page for Patrick that didn’t have any people in it, but I decided last week to make some photos of myself in character so that he could recreate the emotional nuances – especially of the male character in the foreground. Needless to say, he’s an important character and, since this is his introduction, I wanted to make sure we had a favorable first impression of him.

Below is the mock up I made for Patrick including the photos I took of myself. You can probably tell I really enjoy doing the photos.
