The Streets of Bakersfield

Art By Patrick Horvath

“The Streets of Bakersfield” is one of Buck Owens most famous songs. Owens was a country music legend who pioneered the “Bakersfield Sound” which includes rock and roll elements, twangy guitar and close, two-part harmonies. Owens was also the co-host of Hee-Haw a country music variety show that my sister and I were OBSESSED with as kids. The Buck Owens Crystal Palace is still a major tourist destination and music venue in Bakersfield.

This week’s panel includes a few different views of real Bakersfield’s streets. Below is the mock-up that I made for Patrick.
